Obsidian Butterfly: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Book Nine  by: Laurell K. Hamilton – This series does not need to be read in order, but I do recommend it. Overall Comment:  If you are a fan of vampire romances, action and mysteries (think Sookie Stackhouse or a very grown up Twighlight [although Anita has far more depth and intelligence than Bella])

This is the ninth installment in the Anita Blake series. It is very much like the others, lots of sexual inuendo, tension and action, with Anita still being torn between two men, and of course by men I mean a vampire and a werewolf. While neither play a prominent role in this story, Anita is still struggling to come to grips with the threesome of power she shares with the Jean Claude, the vamp, and Richard, the were. As usual she struggles with her every decision that she makes, her growing darkside and her self imposed celibacy.
This adventure focuses on Anita being called out to honour a favour she owed to her ‘friend’ and a legal bounty hunter ‘Ted’,who is actually an illegal assasin whose partner she killed (thus the favour), Edward. Where there is Edward there is danger. Hell, where there is Anita there is danger, put them together and you get… well this story!
There are new characters to be afraid of and the adventure is as well rounded, absorbing and fast-paced as any Laurell K. Hamilton novel. I highly recommend this series, however as there are so many volumes in this series, I would suggest reading one or two at  a time with a break between. I have read the first nine novels in less than two weeks and the story is perhaps a bit… expected?
